On Side B (7.17) there are some details of contacts and addresses, we hoped that some of our important contacts – Lalit Sen, Raja of Suket and a congress stalwart, and Ahok Nehru son of BK Nehru were going to help us gain permit to cross the ‘Inner Line’ into Lahaul. It didn’t happen.
Side A (7.16) is a photocopy of a route map of the Western Himalayas, published by Surveyor General of India in 1907. Difficult to read. You can make out what John Keay and I intended to be our route between Simla and Srinagar, but it would not have been realistic to try to follow the route by this map.
The photo (1.39.9) is of our camp below the Nikora Pass.
