Kukti Pass from the Lahaul side, 16,500 ft. Autumn migration South. Two separate flocks are moving towards the pass, which is in the dip to the top left hand corner of the photo. The higher flock seems to be approaching the pass from a low route.

There are two flocks visible one fairly low down, approaching the pass, and the other on the ridge of the nearside shoulder of the hill. Cracks in the snow covering of the glacier are visible.

Another flock is in the middle distance, in a shadow below a patch of old ice.

On the way to the Jalsu Pass. Autumn migration South. October/September. Boy and man, wearing ‘chola’ and ‘dora’, penning lambs with checked blankets before the flock goes out to graze.
The Upper Budil Valley. A shepherds’ track is just visible across the middle hill. The lack of trees indicates that this is a south-facing hill where snow doesn’t lie, so tree growth is sparse.
