Upper Ravi Valley, Lakhna Temple Pass. There is a flock at the bottom of print 16 (or the top of 17), and another just beginning the path in no. 17. We were watching from the other side of the hill. The upper flock began to leave the path and scatter over the hillside to graze. Our companions shouted at the shepherd that it was dangerous sheep and rocks might fall. Then, legs up, a large sheep flew through the air, landing on the path far below with an ominous thud.
Gaddi, Nestled by the tree at the top is the temple to Lakhna Devi, to whom obeisance should be made to ensure a safe journey for men and animals.

Gaddi, Kukti Pass (16,000 ft) from the Lahaul side. Autumn migration south. There are two flocks visible one fairly low down, approaching the pass, and the other on the ridge of the nearside shoulder of the hill. Cracks in the snow covering of the glacier are visible.

Gaddi, Kukti Pass (16,000 ft) from the Lahaul side. Autumn migration south. There are two flocks visible the front of one is approaching the top of the pass, while the followers are crossing the steep, dangerous gullies where rocks fall from melted ice. Another flock is in the middle distance, in a shadow below a patch of old ice.
